Mitzi Davis- Teacher, Studio Director
Native of Boonville, NC- Graduate of Starmount High School - 1 year at High Point College - BA
in Industrial Psychology from UNC Charlotte. Dancer & Choreographer for Carolina Chargers (semi-pro football) 1979.
Opened Dance With Mitzi in March of 1981- Married Jerry Davis, Nov. 7, 1981-Moved to the current studio building in 1984-Master's
Degree in Dance Education from UNC Greensboro, 1987- Visual Ensemble Director for Starmount High School Marching Band, under direction
of J.P. VanHoy, 1989-2000.
Has been at Dance With Mitzi since she was 3 years old. After beginning nursing school at WSSU, she continued to
perform and began teaching a competition company at DWM. She has since gone back to school and graduated with a Master's of
Science in Nursing and currently works full time as a Family Nurse Practitioner while continuing to choreograph for the competition
companies at DWM.
Began teaching Ballet and Jazz while attending the University of Virginia as an undergraduate student.
She graduated with a BS in Psychology and then later received a Master's in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
She continued to teach dance at a private studio in Charlottesville, Va. while working at UVA Hospital. Her experience includes
teaching at Shorter College while living in Georgia and teaching at a private studio in Illinois before moving to Elkin, North Carolina.
She has enjoyed choreographing for several community theaters through the years and continues to love teaching and choreographing
Ballet at DWM.
Heather Cook Taylor
Teaches ballet and contemporary classes at Dance With Mitzi. Trained at the NC School of the Arts, Boston Ballet School,
and the Pennsylvania School of Ballet. Performed and trained in Rome and Spoleto, then returned to NC to teach and
perform as a soloist with the Charlotte City Ballet. Attended college at UNC Charlotte, UNC Chapel Hill, and East Carolina University,
graduating with a degree in Physical Therapy. She is currently employed by Surry Community College as instructor and co-administrator
of the Physical Therapist Asst. Program, and also works for Yadkin Valley Home Health. She is also a studio mom!
Lindsey Haynes Hall
A student at DWM for 16 years and a company member for eight of those years. She is a graduate
of Appalachian State University with a degree in Dance Studies. She has taken many Master classes at conventions, New York
City at Braodway Dance Center, and while in college. A few master instructors include Mia Michaels, Gill Stroming, and Jason
Piper. She performed in multiple dance showcases while attending Appalachian State. She was in the first group to perform
at Disney World and her choreography could be seen on stage the last time DWM was at Disney. She has been teaching at DWM for
four years and choreographing solos and small group dances since she was in high school. She currently teaches Jazz, Tap, Contemporary,
and co-choreographs for the Jazz/Lyrical Company. She enjoys sharing her passion for dance with the DWM family.
